A healthy brain is vital to healthy living and creating happiness for you. There is a certain amount of truth behind the tag “A sound mind in a sound body” Having and maintaining a healthy sound mind in a healthy body, will help you to unwind after a long day, and allow you to regain your focus, and enable you to develop an overall health and well being. When your brain is troubled, your health and your life will be troubled, and when your brain is working right, you will work right. Here is an inescapable fact that is rarely taken into consideration: our brains are involved in all aspects of our lives. In fact, our brains are top-level managers of everything – our bodies, our relationships, our households, our education, our communities and even the world!
We have worked so hard to commit to our routine which has been disrupted in current time.
With the government taking rapid measures to contain the spread of the virus, and people going into self-quarantine and working from home, women as primary caregivers are ending up taking more responsibilities. Especially for working mothers, dealing with both work and responsibilities at home can take a toll on them, and they often forget to take care of themselves while looking after others. These dramatic changes in eating, sleeping order have completely shaken our daily routines with overburdened household responsibility, enforcing to adapting a new lifestyle has got immense pressure on women.
Most of the people are unaware of the fact that, our mind and our body are directly linked. Our body is functioned to work on the commands given by our brain. So, the question is how I know if I have an unhealthy mind?
Our life currently operates at a high pace, multitasking, working endlessly from one thought to another. This nonstop activity can be harmful to the mind and body.
Feelings of sadness, difficulties getting out of bed, poor sleep (insomnia or sleeping too much), poor eating habits (under- or overeating), turning to drugs and alcohol, self-isolation/distancing more than is recommended are all red flags. Other signs include anger outbursts, ruminative or obsessive thinking patterns, thoughts about harming oneself, or feelings of hopelessness/helplessness.

So how does one take self-control?
It is about time we close the gap between our physical and psychological health. It is time we make them more equal. One key aspect of this starts with self-acceptance and making peace with one’s self. If we keep judging our self-worth with who we are, we will always be disappointed. This contemporary lifestyle is so demanding that we frequently forget to pause and accept ourselves, with all the diligence and all the man-hours we have been putting in. We often fail to realize, we can only give love when we have too much of it and that we are equally important as that of our family and friends and there is no harm in putting our self on priority. Put within the current scenario of the Pandemic, we as primary givers often ignore loving and appreciating our self because the expectations that are set around us are very demanding. While we aren’t unaware of the very fact that juggling in between responsibilities and our self, we have always put forth our responsibilities. An emotional lockdown is as important as a physical lockdown. While we will pursue many things in one go by ourselves, we must understand the necessity of being put in a society or a place with family and friends around us. Maintaining a daily routine can make it easier for the youngsters and other family members to deal with any stressful events. A predictable environment can help the youngsters to develop a way of responsibility and belonging. While routine can be uninteresting and monotonous, we can always find ways to form it fascinating, within our boundaries.
People handle stress differently, which is why people with a healthy mind are better at handling stress during this stressful time of quarantine. A healthy mind makes you resilient to cope with stress. Your existing mental health condition will decide how well you cope.
Positive affirmations have been around for a long time and they do wonders to people. With good mental health, you will be able to stay positive in life. No matter what happens, you will be able to find some good in it. Having a positive outlook on life is extremely important in today’s world. You can start by making a list of all your good qualities and remind yourself that you don’t have to be perfect. Since the current scenario is all negative one should stay away from negative news going around to get rid of all negative thoughts and sleep peacefully. As a practice makes a habit of using words like “I love myself” and “I approve myself” these are powerful tools to gain the greatest joy.
Taking care of your body goes beyond eating healthy and maintaining a balanced compute pattern, as it also requires self-reflection and conversing with those around you.
People tend to fix external bodily imperfections more often than they do internal imperfections. When faced with problems we are often advised to “shake it off” and to move on with life.
